IN MEMORIAM

Andy Mark

Founder and President, BRG Music Works

1950-2009

We're sad to announce that, after a long battle with cancer, our friend and founder Andy Mark has passed away. Andy was 58.

Andy founded Philadelphia Music Works in 1972 (Music Works has been in continuous operation longer than any other advertiser jingle company in the country) and later BRG, aka Broadcast Results Group, which pioneered the bartering of production music libraries to radio. Both were later acquired by Premiere Radio Networks and became BRG Music Works.

Over the course of his career, Andy oversaw the production of literally thousands of jingles and production library CDs, as well as winning numerous industry accolades (not to mention a few gold records). Andy was affable, generous and an inveterate prankster (there are many, many stories to be told, after we're sure the statute of limitations has expired). He was also a devoted friend, husband and father.

To know Andy was to like him, and feel that you were appreciated in turn.

To work with Andy, well, it's no accident that most of us that started with him in the last few decades are still here at BRG. It was just too much blasted fun.

The last few years were difficult, but Andy was always someone who loved life. If anyone had a life well lived, if was Andy.

We will miss our friend. But we know that, as dark as today may seem, somewhere heaven has gotten a little sunnier.

Andy is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Kim; his son, Christian and his granddaughter, Audrina.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Mann Center for Performing Arts, or the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania.
